Just a typical Saturday....

Today was our "hang out" day. It's about 10:30pm and I am exhausted. Here's why...
We didn't have to be anywhere this morning so the boys got up earlier than usual (of course - I have to pry them out of bed normally). They ate some breakfast and then quickly got dressed (by themselves!) to go outside, ride bikes and swing (this means Mommy has to get dressed and go outside where it's really cold and she hasn't had coffee). Since they were playing sweetly, I did some laundry, sorted toys, folded clothes - you know, the usual spa treatments.
After a while, they came into play, so I decided to make some homemade hard candy using pomegranate juice. That was entertaining. I didn't quite get it to the hard crack stage, so we played with it for while, stretching and shaping the candy.
Then it was lunchtime and we watched our favorite movie, "Sharkboy and Lavagirl". Naptime - lasted about 15 minutes. The rest of the time I spent putting various boys back in their rooms. Jack drifted off for about 10 minutes until Charlie snuck past me and woke him up. By now everyone was hungry again. We were going to the zoo, but it was raining.
So we decided to go to the new train exhibit at the McWane Center. Both boys were very well behaved, but it is still stressful for me to try to keep up with them in crowded places like the McWane Center on a Saturday. But overall it went very well. We also got to enjoy the new train ride there.
Everyone was hungry again. Charlie begged and begged for croutons. I thought we could go to Pizza Hut where they have pizza (Jack's fave) and noodles and croutons (for Charlie), but I forgot my Feingold list and couldn't remember if Pizza Hut was on it. So we went on a search for croutons at a drive through and I used my cell phone to order Papa John's pizza. We found croutons at McDonald's and then picked up the pizza. We went home to eat. I made Charlie some spagetti. Then it was bathtime, then video time, then story time (note that there was a good bit of chasing and running around during these times).
Everyone's in bed. It's 8:30pm. I go to the living room to watch the rest of the AL vs Miss State game. I hear little feet. It's Jack. He's hungry AGAIN. The child has eaten 1/3 of an extra large cheese pizza. He only weighs 38 lbs. At this point he is more pizza than child.
So I get him more pizza. He and I end up hanging out on the couch, watching the game and saying, "Roll Tide." I try to tell Jack what I know about football, i.e. the little lines are "yards". It's good when our team has the ball. Alabama is the number 1 football team in the country. Etc. He is excited about the scores from all the teams that chryron across the bottom (Arizona! Georgia!). Part of his love of maps and states. He says that he loves the Alabama teams, Georgia and Florida. I tell him he can't love Florida. We call Grandmother who explains that we don't like teams that have orange in the colors. He thinks that is silly.
The game is over, Jack is full and he finally goes to sleep. I have been cleaning every since. Did a load of laundry, etc.
Everyone was happy and we had fun. It was a good day.
